      Hi 10rusdanc,
Sometimes, because it has more additives to it which are more expensive. So Macdonalds fries are more expensive than an apple, because the fries have added salt, sugar, preservatives – which all adds up. And for Macdonalds to make a profit they need to charge more. – Also a man found a 14 year old macdonalds burger in his pocket and it looked exactly the same – Yuck, have a look 😛

That’s because of the extra bits they put in :S

      Hi 10rusdanc,

This is probably for 2 reasons. First off, unhealthy food is often more popular than healthy food. For example, if I presented you with an apple and a Big Mac, which would you rather take? The Big Mac, right? If people like something then companies can charge more for it and people will still pay it.

The second thing is that unhealthy food tends to have a lot more ingredients added to it than unhealthy food. There are preservatives, salts, flavouring and so on. All of these cost money. Unhealthy food therefore costs more to make than healthy foods so companies have to charge more for it to make a profit.

      Hope that helps,

      Ian

      Hi 10rusdanc,

I don’t think they are. Lentils, porridge, vegetables are all really cheap and also healthy.

      cheers
