Although that might make for a cool combination, I don’t think it’s possible 😉
Even though they both have shells, they are actually quite different type of animals… turtles are reptilians, so more related to dinosaurs or crocodiles, while snails are molluscs, actually closer to things like a squid or an octopus!!
Hi coblaithmckenna,
If one did exist, I think that’s the perfect name. Snail’s do not really have genders, they are not male or female. They are a mix of both. So when snails get together, they both end up having children. Could you imagine that with humans lol.
So if a turtle and a snail did meet, would the snail want to be the boy or the girl? Also, turtles ad snails are different species so they are cannot physically have babies, so a snurtle can only remain in our imagination.
Also, turtles and snails don’t tend to meet each other in the wild, and probably wouldn’t fancy each other if they did meet…All that slime on the snail….:S
But, you can get loads of crossovers with animals, like a liger (lion and a tiger……3 have just been born this morning. check the news out 😀 so cute). But in Egyptian time, they thought a camel and a leopard could have babies…….Do you know what animal would look like a mix between a leopard and a camel…..??
…….A giraffe. Seriously, Egyptians thought a giraffe was the baby of a camel and a leopard. 😀
At any rate, as Daniela says, a Snurtle wouldn’t be possible in real life. They’d have to be made by a snail and a turtle mating and having baby Snurtles (or by somehow being created in a lab). Being two completely different types of creature, a snail and turtle wouldn’t be able to mate so this couldn’t happen 🙁
I suppose it’s possible that something could exist that looks sort of like a cross between a turtle and a snail but is actually its own distinct creature. But if it does exist, we don’t know about it!
So, sadly, no Snurtles in the world 🙁 If they did, though, I’d like to think they’d look like this!
