      Hi Bill,

eventually yes but not whilst I was at school. At school I wanted to go to university and be a scientist because I enjoyed the subjects. Once I got to University I was taught by some inspirational scientists.

      Hi bill2055 and pmarhsall,

For the first 4 years of secondary school, I had the same Chemistry teacher – Dr Randall. I really looked up to him because he was an excellent teacher who was funny, patient and made the science really exciting., He’d completed a PhD so he was a science researcher before he became a teacher.

Like Mark though, the first scientists I met were when I was at university. One of my lecturers was brilliant – she taught us about fungi and looked like Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter! But she was a genuinely lovely person and I’d have loved to work with her on a project if she hadn’t retired
