I’ve travelled to a few different places because of my PhD – Canada, America and India – but not to help people. My trips abroad have been to go to talks and workshops to learn about other people’s work. Unfortunately, since most of my work is done on a computer I’m not let out much!
Unfortunately I’d have to say no… when I travel for work it’s usually to meet other scientists and discuss what we all do or to go to other labs and learn/do new experiments!
Hi tativent1,
I have links with other universities, that we either worked with or carried out similar research to. So, although I don’t travel across the world myself, my emails to colleagues around the world allow me to contribute to research that will one day have an impact in the future.
However, we do have some links in New york and I really really hope to travel and live in this city in the future to carry out my research.
some of my research is designed to help people – for example finding out how to clean up soil poisoned by industrial activity and some work at present that could link into understanding how people survive strokes.
The travelling I’ve done is to meet scientists and pursue my research so I guess in that sense I have travelled around the world to help people.
